THIS IS AN ERASMUS+ & ETWINNING PROJECT ON MODEL UNITED NATIONS
ERASMUS MODEL UNITED NATIONS
ABOUT OUR PROJECT
We see information and innovation as the key to the future. Our main goal is to raise individuals who have contemporary national, international, cultural heritage whose understanding and problem solving skills are improved, who knows the country’s and world’s realities and has made a point of lifelong learning and create an educational environment which targets worth-living by using our human resources most effectively. Accordingly, we are following student-centred approaches and work according to our students’ expectations and demands. MUN takes an important place among these works. The idea of this project was aroused by our students’ interest in their countries’ and world’s problems, understanding the reality of globalization, desire to discover different cultures and contact with them to improve their life quality, attitude towards technological developments, will to improve their linguistic skills and great demand to organize and take part in MUN activities. After the SWOT analysis we made; the idea became concrete. We see MUN as a completely student-centred activity. We think that the only way to increase the quality and efficiency of education is to include students into the process. It is exciting for us to see the synergy in which young people from different cultures, place, economic conditions will come together to try to find solutions to the world’s problems to create a better world. With the activities that we will do, we aim to help the teenagers pass into the adulthood by discussing the world’s problems, promote common values like respecting human rights, tolerance, freedom, dialogue among religions and cultures, cooperation in teaching and learning, sharing experiences and getting closer by partnerships and inter-discipliner approaches, critical thinking, making scientific research, having the self-confidence to express their ideas. MUN is a simulation of UN, so students pretend to be the delegates of different UN countries. With our project, we will carry this to an international extend in real terms. By this way, we will contribute to our students understanding and respecting each other more by discussing the world’s problems with different point of view, intercultural dialogues and accordingly, bringing out more global resolutions. By our project, the young people, both the participants and the stakeholders, will have the opportunity to understand, comment on and create solutions to global problems. Being a part of the solution but not the problem will be improving for our students and their self-confidence. By this way, the participants will understand the reality of globalization by getting more mature and improve themselves in being a world citizen by representing different countries as delegates. Bringing together the young people from different language, culture and beliefs to find a solution the World’s problem will help cultures come together and the young people will learn to respect differences without discriminating people according to their religion or race.

Besides all the participants will learn to respect differences by intercultural communication. We will contribute to prevent racism and discrimination among the young by our partnership activities. Being student centred, our project will make our students think like a part of the solution and they will understand the reality of globalization by getting more mature and improve themselves in being a world citizen by representing different countries as delegates.
