Letter from Secretary General
Click here Dear Delegates and Distinguished Guests,
My name is Alexandre Peixoto and I’ll be your Secretery-General for the EPATVMUN sessions. The whole Portuguese team would like to welcome all of you to what will be the final mobility of this ERASMUS project, and we hope you enjoy your stay. Please feel free to address teachers and students with any questions, we will be more than happy to help.
We expect each delegate to come to the conference with an understanding of his or her country’s positions and a willingness to forge agreements. To ensure that you act professionally and diplomatically, MUN’s Rules of Procedure, Delegate Dress and Conduct Code have been made clear beforehand, and a small Q&A will be held in order to ensure everything is understood. The debate agenda will focus on Human Rights and Refugee Status, responsibility of the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee, which focuses on issues dealing with fundamental human rights in the international community. SOCHUM was founded in 1945 in reaction to the establishment of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. It promotes and enforces basic freedoms and ideals meant to be enjoyed by the entire international community such as the right to life, the expression of cultures, the freedom of political participation, the protection of children’s rights, and the promotion of social development, among many others. This mobility is very demanding, as delegates are required to possess a vast understanding of current and past events, linked with public speaking and debate skills, so before we start, I’d like to congratulate all students for their participation, and hope they make the most of developing such important competences in a welcoming and controlled environment. to edit. With that being said, i´m looking forward to seeing you all in my home country, in Vila Verde/Braga. If i can assist you with further inquiries, please do not hesitate do contact me at [email protected]. Sincerely, Secretary- General Alexandre B.
SOCUM (SOCIAL, HUMANITARIAN AND CULTURAL) COMMITTEE
The fourth mobility took place in Portugal. In this mobility, Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee of MUN was held. Three main issues that were discussed in this committee; Development, Collaboration and Education, Women Rights and Refugees. Also, chairs would add some subtitles like; human rights, terrorism, food safety, health, justice, entrepreneurship, freedom of press and gender equality. Agenda Item was EDUCATION OF REFUGEES. Methodology The organization team of the MUN was composed of host country’s students. The host country created their organization team 30 days before the mobility. They made a poster announcing the MUN activity in their country. The organization team announced the MUN in local and national platforms and made its organization scheme by communicating with partner schools’ students and associated partners of the host country in 25 days to distribute the duties of the academic team as Secretary General, Director General, Chairs, Deputy Chairs, Admins and Deputy director. After duties were distributed, the chair board decided which delegate would represent which country and prepared the study guide of the committee and sent it in e-mail to the delegates. By this way, the delegates were given 20 days to get prepared for the committee before the mobility. Other students and teachers could follow and join MUN sessions at school during mobility. Portugal was basically responsible for every means of communication during project activities. The coordinator teacher of Portugal always kept these communication organs active and made sure that all the participants took part in these organs. LTT 1st day: All the participants met; project partners and associated partners introduced their schools and countries. The delegates were registered. Secretary General made a meeting describing the MUN committee. During the other LTT days continued. Each session lasted one and a half an hour. Teachers made an evaluation meeting and wrote reports. LTT 5th day: The closing ceremony of the MUN was made. The attendants were given their certificates. Cultural trips were organized. Expected Results: Encouraging young people to participate in democratic and civil life. Improving communication and foreign language skills. Working collaboratively Writing “Resolution Papers” at the end of each MUN conference. Promoting common values like dialogue among cultures and religions, variety, freedom, tolerance and respect to human rights. Having opportunities to deal with the problems of the world. Getting awareness of education and integration of refugees worldwide.
